The Morven Estate is located in Albemarle County, Virginia.  In 1790, Thomas Jefferson purchased the property on behalf of his secretary and “adoptive son”, William Short.  In 2001, John Kluge gave the property to the University of Virginia.

The gardens at Morven were designed, in part, by Annette Hoyt Flanders in 1930.  This blog will document my research into the gardens’ design and Flanders’ work.  This research project is being developed for the Cultural Visualization Workshop offered through the UVA School of Architecture.
